Girl Scouts’ Training Sessions on Diversity and Inclusion

The Girl Scouts of the USA, an organization founded 111 years ago to serve young women, has come under fire for announcing a four-part “racial equity” training series for volunteers and parents. The training will focus on topics such as “internalized racism” and “white supremacy culture,” and appears to adopt the divisive ideology of Critical Race Theory.

The training, set to begin on December 13, will kick off with a virtual lesson titled “Foundations in Racial Equity.” This will be followed by “Foundations in Internalized Racism” in January, “Understanding and Decentering White Supremacy Culture” in February, and “Navigating Change, Power and Equitable Decision Making” in March.

According to a description of the sessions obtained by The Daily Wire, the training is designed to “develop shared language and analysis around diversity, inclusion, and equity” and “deeply interrogate race.” The Girls Scouts stated that the training will also address “structural racism” and how it manifests in “individual experiences, organizational dynamics, and systemic outcomes.”

When asked for comment on the training, the Girls Scouts did not respond.

This decision comes after the Girls Scouts faced criticism earlier this year for offering an “LGBTQ+ Pride Month Fun Patch” that could be earned if scouts attended a pride parade, memorized a poem written by an author who identifies as LGBTQ, or read about the 1969 Stonewall uprising and wrote their own poem about the event.

In addition, the Girl Scouts have published an “anti-racism guide” influenced by Critical Race Theory, which claims that being “color-blind” only perpetuates racism and that young children show a “bias towards whiteness.” The guide also urges parents to talk to their children about racism and implies that those who refuse are contributing to unequal systems.

This latest move to embrace Critical Race Theory shows that the Girl Scouts are following in the footsteps of other organizations, such as the Boy Scouts of America, who have been pushing leftwing worldviews on race. In 2021, the Boy Scouts announced that aspiring Eagle Scouts would have to earn the “Citizenship in Society” merit badge, which promotes anti-white rhetoric, criticizes Christopher Columbus, and embraces the LGBT movement.

The training sessions will be held in partnership with Equity Paradigm Group, a consulting firm based in North Carolina that aims to “evolve the way in which organizations approach their work.” The firm’s training covers topics such as “Strategies for applying an Intersectional Racial Equity Lens,” “Defining and Pursuing Liberation,” and “Naming & De-centering White Dominant Culture.”

It remains to be seen how these new training sessions will impact the Girl Scouts organization and its members. However, it is clear that the group is fully embracing Critical Race Theory and other leftwing ideologies, putting their focus on social justice rather than their original mission of empowering and supporting young women.
