Actress Mira Sorvino has been making waves on season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars” as she strives to overcome her biggest challenge—rediscovering her sensuality. The 56-year-old award-winning actress has admitted to facing several obstacles since joining the popular dance competition, but she remains determined to learn from her mistakes and come out on top.
In an interview with Fox News Digital on the “Dancing with the Stars” red carpet, Sorvino opened up about her struggles with confidence and embracing her sexuality. As a mother of four, she shared that it has been a long time since she has thought of herself as “sexy,” and she believes that this is a common mistake that many mothers make.
Sorvino stated, “We don’t think of ourselves that way when we enter…the motherhood phase. And maybe that’s a mistake… we should always embrace our sexuality, but… I’m not… living in that at the moment.” However, she is determined to conquer this obstacle and hopes to inspire other mothers to do the same.

She confessed that this has been her biggest challenge as she attempts to “re-access that confidence” in order to “sell this sexy number” on the dance floor. With her partner Gleb Savchenko, Sorvino performed a sultry salsa to the tune of Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando,” earning a total score of 18 from the judges and securing a spot in the next round. Sadly, actress Jamie Lynn Spears was sent home during Tuesday night’s elimination.
As “Dancing with the Stars” kicked off its 32nd season on Sept. 26, Sorvino was determined to make the most of her experience and show the world that she still has what it takes to compete on the dance floor. The show welcomed back former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star Alfonso Ribeiro as the host, while former professional dancer and judge Julianne Hough joined as co-host.
However, the actress also faced a personal tragedy during the filming of the show. On July 2022, her father, the beloved actor Paul Sorvino, passed away at the age of 83 due to natural causes. Sorvino, who had dealt with health issues in recent years, shared a heart-wrenching tribute on Twitter, writing, “My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed…He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.”

Sorvino’s dedication to her career is matched by her commitment to her family. She has been married to actor and director Christopher Backus since 2004, and together they have four children—daughters Mattea and Lucia, and sons Johnny and Holden.
Known for her memorable roles in films such as “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion,” “Amongst Friends,” and “At First Sight,” Sorvino continues to shine in her career while using her platform to inspire and empower women of all ages. As she takes on the challenges of “Dancing with the Stars,” Sorvino proves that age is just a number, and one can always rediscover and embrace their sensuality at any stage in life.
