Pandemonium Erupts As Cars Obstruct Delivery Truck and Steal Goods

In a shocking incident of brazen theft, a group of individuals in Memphis, Tennessee pillaged a FedEx tractor-trailer for packages on Saturday night. The theft took place at the intersection of Mallory and Riverport in the South Memphis neighborhood as the driver attempted to escape the ravagers.

Video footage captured multiple people running towards the FedEx truck as the driver frantically tried to escape in the midst of a sea of parked cars. Reports suggest that several men used an unknown tool to open the sealed back doors of the truck and took a significant amount of packages. The driver, who was in disbelief and shock, stated that the thieves took boxes of packages and left them destroyed and discarded all over the road.

Multiple police officers were called to the scene as onlookers witnessed the chaos unfold. However, several vehicles were seen recklessly speeding away before the police could arrive, leaving the truck and its driver behind. According to the Memphis Police Department, the police received a call around 10 pm to respond to the incident, but the thieves had already fled the scene.

The theft has sparked outrage and concern among residents of the South Memphis neighborhood. Vivica Shumpert, a resident, expressed her frustration with the rising crime in the area, stating, “Somebody’s gonna end up getting killed. And the citizens who are paying taxes, we should have better security for the people who want to live safely and quietly.”

While the thieves managed to escape with their stolen goods, FedEx has responded to the incident, stating that the safety of its employees and customers’ packages are top priorities. They also added that they are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities and taking necessary steps to address the matter.

In a twisted turn of events, three men were later caught and detained after they were found sitting in a car that smelled of marijuana in an apartment complex. The security team patrolling the area had alerted the police after they found stolen goods in the vehicle. The men confessed to the theft, but it is unclear how they managed to open the back doors of the FedEx truck.

This is not the first time that package delivery drivers have been targeted for their valuable contents. Just last week, in Prince George County, Maryland, a UPS driver had her truck stolen during a broad daylight armed carjacking while she was delivering packages.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of delivery drivers and the security of packages being transported. With the holiday season approaching, it is important for companies like FedEx and UPS to take necessary precautions and ensure the safety of their employees and customers’ packages. The investigation into the Memphis theft is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
